Mr. Pix... you should check with ed1475 or Adamcon (Bob Slopsema) on AtariAge. Unfortunately a lot of these 3rd Party/Homebrew hardware items haven't survived like you see with other retro systems.

As I mentioned in chat the best way to try an incorporate a 3 1/2" drive into the the Adam would be to use the ADE as a base and then add the 3 1/2" arduino floppy shield and modify the code in the ADE. But at this point you may as well just stick with the microSD card and not use old technology.

I'm going to send mixed messages...

I like 3.5" DSHD floppies as they hold 1.44MB. Formatted, that's typically 1.2MB. They're quick, and not expensive.

I'm looking to implement a few items off the ADE stack. Floppy is where I want to start, because it's the most harmless exercise and will; have low adoption. I want to have it down before doing more demanded projects like a PS/2 or USB keyboard adapter.

The second element is that I might in the future do a complete replacement system - not a 1:1 clone of the Adam, but something bringing it maybe 5-10 years ahead of where it ended. More memory, fast storage. In that system, ADAMnet would have two separate systems - the existing slow system at 62.5Kbaud, and a super fast SPI system at 50MHz. Both would look the same to the OS. So anything I do would be designed with this imaginary future machine in mind. That said, a lot would have to happen before then, including a rewrite of the OS to support a quite different memory and IO system.

I don't see getting support for a change like that without a few successful other projects under my belt.
